The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge was established in 1976 with a grant from the National
Endowment for the Arts to promote the arts in the Roanoke Valley and
provide services to local cultural groups. Throughout the decades, The
Arts Council of the Blue Ridge has provided proactive leadership in which
to maintain and strengthen the cultural activities of southwest Virginia.
The International
Sculpture Center (ISC) is a member-supported, nonprofit organization founded
in 1960 to advance the creation and understanding of sculpture and its
unique, vital contribution to society. Members include sculptors, collectors,
patrons, architects, developers, journalists, curators, historians, critics,
educators, foundries, galleries, and museums — anyone with an interest
in and commitment to the field of sculpture.
The Peninsula Fine Arts
Center is the premier arts advocate in the region working to create
a stronger community through ART. Featuring dynamic changing exhibitions,
thought-provoking educational programs, a year-round studio art school,
an interactive gallery for children, evening mixers and family friendly
activities, Pfac has something for everyone—art is what you make it!
The Southern Virginia Artisan
Center was opened in 2005. The Gallery located at 54 West Church Street,
Martinsville, Virginia, offers area and regional artisans a new outlet
to showcase and sell their original artwork. Working in union with
Patrick Henry Community College and the School of Crafts and Design, students,
instructors, and local established artists all contribute to the inviting
character of the Artisan Center through many different mediums. Folk art,
photography, paintings, and quilted artwork are only the beginning of all
that is available.
Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. (SAQA) is a
non-profit international organization whose mission is to promote the art quilt
through education, exhibitions, professional development and documentation. Founded
in 1989 by an initial group of 50 artists, SAQA now boasts over 2,400 members:
artists, teachers, collectors, gallery owners, museum curators and corporate
sponsors.
